Managing tokenization-related settings

  1. Are you ready?

    In this tutorial, we are going to learn how to enable the following tokenization-related settings: tokenization, untokenization and detokenization.

    We will proceed as follows:
    • Enable tokenization for a merchant on the Merchant perspective;
    • Select how untokenization is done:
      • Automatic (the token is deleted automatically if not used for 365 days);
      • Manual (untokenization is done manually by sending an API call);
      • Disabled (untokenization is disabled for the merchant).
    • Assign detokenization privilege for a service user on the User perpective.
  2. Firstly, let's learn how to enable tokenization for a merchant.
  3. Log in to the system using your Username and Password and switch to the Management -> Merchant Perspective.

    Note: To learn how to log in and select perspectives, use the prerequisite tutorial Logging in and navigating the application.
  4. Select appropriate Merchant or Merchant Account in the top left section of the screen.
  5. Make sure that your tokenization profile is set for the merchant. To learn how to configure profiles, please follow this tutorial.
  6. Click   Detailsbutton in the top right section of the screen.
  7. Locate     Profiles  menu itemfrom the list.
  8. Select Processing in Groupcolumn
  9. Select Tokenization in Typecolumn
  10. Click   Modify Provider Profilebutton and select an appropriate provider.
  11. Click   modify...menu item , enable tokenization via the corresponding checkbox, configure provider settings and click Save button.
  12. Next, let's learn how to manage untokenization settings.
  13. To choose how untokenization is done for a particular merchant, follow the steps 4-9 of this tutorial.
  14. Locate   Token Removal  label
  15. Click Manual radio button to enable manual untokenization for the merchant.
  16. Click   Savebutton to save changes.
  17. Now, let's learn how to enable detokenization. Detokenization is actived through the detokenization privilege that is available for service users only.

    Note that detokenization process consists of two phases:
    • The first one is performed through a corresponding API call. For this purpose, a service user is required;
    • The second one is performed through the user interface. For this purpose, a human user is required.
  18. Switch to the Management -> User perspective.
  19. Click   Userdropdown in the top section of the screen and select an appropriate service user.
  20. Click   Detailsbutton in the top right section of the screen.
  21. Locate   Privileges  groupbox
  22. Locate   Detokenization  checkbox and check it off to assign detokenization privilege for the service user.
  23. Click   Savebutton to save changes.
  24. Congratulations, you are done!
