Are you ready?

In this tutorial we are going to learn how to reset a password used to log into the application for both human and service users. The password can be reset via either the User perspective or the logon page. The steps are the same for human and service user if you reset your password using the User perspective. If you want to reset the password via the logon page, the steps differ for different types of users.

We will proceed as follows:
For resetting the password via the User perspective:
- Enter the gateway using a portal URL and active username and password;
- Go to the User perspective;
- Reset a password for the user.
For resetting the password via the logon page:
- Enter the gateway using a portal URL;
- Locate and click either a respective link or button depending on the type of a user that needs to have their password reset;
- Reset a password for the user.
If your password is about to expire, you receive a respective email notification. For human users, the notification comes five days prior to the expiration date. For service users, it comes 30 days prior to the expiration date.
Now, let's learn how to reset a service or human user password via the User perspective.
Log in to the system using your Username and Password and switch to the Management => User Perspective.

Note: To learn how to log in and select perspectives, use the prerequisite tutorial Logging in and navigating the application.
Locate User dropdown in the top section of the screen and select a respective human or service user.
Click Detailsbutton
Click Actionsbutton on the opened form.
Choose Reset Password menu item .
In the opened window, you can see two options for password reset - Selected User and Current User. Selected user is an email of a user that needs a password reset, and current user is a user that you are logged in. You can choose any option for the notification to be sent to and click Reset button.

When resetting a password on the user interface, the old password for both service and human user is no longer active and only a new password can be used.
Now, let's learn how to reset a service or human user password on the logon page.
Go to the logon page, enter your username and click Continue button.

You will have the following options:
- To reset a password of your human user;
- To reset a password of your service user.
Firstly, let's learn how to reset a password of your human user.
Locate Forgot your password? Click here to reset it. link at the bottom of the page and click on it.
Enter the username of your human user and click OK button. If everything is done correctly, you will be logged out of the system, and your password will be sent to you via email.
Now, let's learn how to reset a password of your service user.
Locate Reset Service User Password button at the bottom of the page and click on it.
Enter the username of your service user and click Next button.
Enter the current password of your service user.
Locate checkbox notifying you about the date when the password will become invalid, check it off and click Generate Password button.
If everything is done correctly, you are logged out of the system, and a new password is sent to chosen email.

Note: When resetting a password for service user on the logon page, both old and new passwords are supported by the date when the old password gets expired.
